We are building a world-class, long-distance hiking trail - the Transcaucasian Trail (TCT) - across the Caucasus, linking roughly two dozen existing and proposed national parks in the region.
The Caucasus, on the border of Europe and Asia, is one of the most biologically and culturally diverse mountain ranges in the world, but one that few have had the chance to explore. Now our growing community of hikers, cartographers and conservationists is putting this hidden gem on the map to help ensure that the natural and cultural heritage of the region can be enjoyed by future generations.
We will make hiking in the Caucasus safer and more accessible for everyone while increasing economic opportunities for local communities and helping protect the environment. We are starting to build the TCT this summer. Join us to be part of this incredible project in one of the most intriguing regions on Earth.
Last summer we explored these mountains.
This is some of the footage from our trip.
A mountain trail covering thousands of kilometers of 3000+ meter passes and valleys filled with ancient cultures and endemic species, across 17 distinct regions where over a dozen different languages are spoken. Sound exciting? It is.
Our aspiration to create a unique and exciting trail will need an ongoing and long term effort. We have ambitious plans over the coming years - find out more about our plans and what we aim to develop in 2017!
Behind every great long-distance trail is a community of volunteers that make a line drawn on a map into a hiking trail that can be enjoyed by thousands of people. We are helping to build and organize that community. Join us in making the Transcaucasian Trail a reality.
