We first scouted large sections of this route in 2021–2022 with the support of People in Need, as part of a cross-border tourism project connecting Georgia and Armenia.
We’d also like to acknowledge the work of the Samtskhe-Javakheti DMO, which blazed several parts of the route and produced the first public GPX tracks of several sections between Gandzani and Tabatskuri.
TCT Georgia crews improved and opened the trail section in Nedzvi Reserve from 2022–2024 through our Caucasus Conservation Corps program, with the support of the U.S. Forest Service.
Over the years, we’ve refined the route and compiled critical information to help hikers plan their trip, thanks to repeat scouting visits and crowd-sourced reports from thru-hikers.
The creation of these resources would not be possible without many dedicated supporters. To join them and make more free trail resources possible, support the TCT here.
