Distance: 55.0 km / 34.2 mi
Elevation range: 643 m to 1,754 m
Elevation gain: +2,024 m
Elevation loss: -1,891 m
This is the longest stage of the eastern section, offering a more continuous trekking experience compared to earlier segments. Beginning below Chirag Gala, the route follows jeep tracks along the southern side of a broad ridgeline, gradually transitioning through open meadows and into forested terrain. The path alternates between pasture, light woodland, and long stretches of double-track, including a notably extended ridgeline traverse with clear footing and wide panoramic views.
Despite its length, the terrain is generally straightforward underfoot, though navigation requires attention—especially on older or abandoned tracks. The final approach to Afurja involves descending via a network of overgrown and intersecting village roads. Passing through Firik and nearby settlements, the route becomes less defined before reaching the outskirts of Afurja, where a trail skirts behind the well-known waterfall and leads into the village.
Due to the distance and limited infrastructure, most hikers will need to complete this stage over two days and should plan accordingly with sufficient food, water, and camping gear.
